Barbados is an island in the Caribbean

Welcome to Barbados

updated - March 20, 2012

Looking at any map of the Caribbean, you'll notice right off that Barbados is set apart from the rest of the islands - Barbados is the easternmost island in the Caribbean. But there are more important things that set Barbados apart from its neighbors that geography.

Barbados is friendly; really friendly. Almost everyone who visits will tell you that its the people who make Barbados such an enchanting place to visit.

About the same time as Plymouth was being settled by Pilgrims in Massachusetts, Barbados was being settled by her first settlers. Since then, Barbados has been continuously occupied and governed by the British - without interruption - and you'll find the British influence everywhere.

Barbados -

As with many Caribbean islands that face the Atlantic, such as St Lucia and others, you'll find the eastern shore to be quite rough as the relentless pounding of deep ocean waves give little room for sand to accumulate and form beaches.

The Caribbean side of the island is entirely different - strewn with silver sand beaches everywhere. Barbados has just about every conceivable activity covered: horseback riding, golf, cricket, and great snorkeling and diving.
